Russian Businessmen in Highest Level Corruption Row in Romania

Two important businessmen from Russia, representatives of Marco
Group, who owns ALRO Slatina, are being accused of pulling strings
around the Romanian president, in order to arrange for cheaper electrical power to be delivered to ALRO, one of Europe’s largest aluminum plants.

Persons in high positions, like Elena Udrea, Dorin Cocoş, as well as
Valeriy Krasnov and Vitaliy Maskitskiy, Russian businessmen, have been
intercepted by secret services while talking about the alleged
transaction. The transcripts of those talks, from 2005, have just been
revealed. Sources claim also that president Medvedev is also being mentioned in the conversations.
