Nicolas Cage to Shoot on Romania’s Danger Highway

The most dangerous highway in Romania, the Transfăgărăşan, has become the new set for Nicolas Cage’s sequel of “Ghost Rider”. His crew has already brought several lorries filled with equipment for the scenes that will be filmed on Romania’s spectacular and treacherous road.

The Transfăgărăşan was the pride of Ceauşescu’s regime and it was built between 1970 and 1974. It has a total lenght of 151 kilometres and it links two historical regions of Romania, Wallachia and Transylvania, across the Făgăraş mountains.

The motorway was also used by Top Gear, while shooting an episode in Romania. Because of its degree of danger, the Transfăgărăşan is open only from June 30 to October 30 every year.
