This is how a Romanian newspaper was advertising on October the 27th. For every copy bought in a certain chain of mini-markets, the readers were being offered a pound of potatoes for free.
The newspaper is called Click and it is well positioned on Romania’s tabloid market. The owner of both the newspaper and the chain of stores in none other than Romania’s tycoon Dinu Patriciu, who has made his vast fortune from oil business and has moved into the media market.
The exact promotion slogan is “Buy half a kilo of potatoes from Mic.Ro and get another half for free”, when producing a little card that was being given away along with the paper.
